Single-Chambered Block Flute

This type of flute is typically made from bamboo and usually made by indigenous people in Mexico. The Raramuri of Northern Mexico still make this type of flute using bamboo. Construction is similar to a modern recorder, but most flutes will have 3-4 holes with a removable block that is made from the same bamboo the flute is made of. This type can also be made from clay and was made by the Ancient Maya and other cultures in Mesoamerica.

I make these flutes with bamboo or giant reed.
